March 2017 Team Update

Our all-volunteer coalition is ready to find homes and walk alongside those who are homeless in our community, and our 501c3 status will be pending by May, thanks to our terrific pro-bono lawyer, Sean Shultz. The following is a brief summary of current team plans and actions. For a full description of NOAH teams, please go to the Team Structure page.

Housing Resources Team:

The housing team has successfully housed and assisted two veterans and their families, thanks to the generosity of Alex Manning. Our highly skilled maintenance and construction team is ready to rehab or remodel apartments and homes when they become available. We can offer free maintenance and soon, tax deductions for the donation of an apartment or house.

Household Needs Team:

The household needs team is talking with people about services, supplies and furniture they can donate when a family is moved into their new home. They are connecting with New Digs and other sources for furniture, household supplies and storage. We also need a home repair team to fix things that are broken throughout the year and mentor/assist family members on the care and upkeep of their new home.

Social and Emotional Necessities Team:

The social and emotional necessities team, which includes case management and linking with social services, mental health and behavioral health organizations and professionals, is working on issues of confidentiality, outreach, partnering and individual coaching. They will reach out to churches and service organizations for people who can join their team in assisting our newly housed individuals.

Health Care Team:

Our health care team includes doctors, nurses and a paramedic who discussed health screenings, preventive care, diabetes education, food preparation, and out-reach to local churches and food stores.

Employment and Career Team:

The employment and career team plans to connect people with the job skills and careers they are interested in by reaching out to Career Link, Employment Skills Center, Cyber Space and other resources. Internships and apprenticeships are another possibility with business owners who can provide these for our newly housed families.

Nutrition and Healthy Living Team:

The nutrition and healthy living team will do nutrition education and healthy food classes for adults and children linked with Project Share.
